Ayurvedic Dal Tadka – Comfort in a Bowl
Ayurvedic Dal Tadka
Nothing says home comfort like a steaming bowl of dal. This Ayurvedic version uses organic spices to maximise both flavour and health benefits.
Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow moong dal (split lentils), washed
- 3 cups water
- 1 tsp Ayushka Organic Turmeric Powder
- 1 tomato, chopped
- Salt to taste
For the Tadka (Tempering):
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 dried red chilli
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- Fresh coriander for garnish
Instructions
- Boil dal with water, turmeric, tomato, and salt in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles.
- Mash the dal lightly and set aside.
- In a small pan, heat ghee. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add garlic, red chilli, and asafoetida. Sauté for 30 seconds.
- Pour the tadka over the dal. Garnish with fresh coriander.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or chapati.
